Ferrari-baas: 'Ross Brawn gedraagt zich als Mozes'

Welkom bij een nieuwe aflevering van 'Marchionne maakt vrienden'. De altijd uitgesproken Ferrari-topman uitte nog niet zo lang geleden het dreigement dat zijn renstal uit de F1 zal stappen als de toekomstvisie van de sport hem zal blijven tegenstaan, en dit dreigement herhaalde de truidragende topman nog eens voorafgaand aan de jaarlijkse kwetslunch kerstlunch in Maranello. In Italië hoeft dat gelukkig nog geen winter-/seizoenslunch te heten, maar dat terzijde.

“We are not interested in making cars all the same and simple and cheap engines like Nascar. If anything, the real problem is that there is no overtaking and F1 needs more exciting races. Otherwise Ferrari will leave. If they believe that we are bluffing, they are playing with fire. I think that Ferrari has the strength to drag others as well to an alternative championship.”

Vervolgens richtte Marchionne zijn pijlen op Ross Brawn, de man die nota bene samen met Michael Schumacher Ferrari in de vroege jaren '00 van deze eeuw naar ongekende en hierna nooit geëvenaarde successen leidde. Marchionne is half Italiaans, en dus behept met een grote voorliefde voor vrouwelijk schoon. Wellicht om deze reden hakten Brawns uitspraken over grid girls er in, in huize Marchionne. De Serg rant:

"What I do not care for is when Ross Brawn comes along and announces that grid girls have to go. And how the engines and chassis should be. He behaves like Moses reading the Ten Commandments. And when I call Moses' boss [Chase Carey, red.], he tells me that it was just his personal opinion. So I don't want to participate in such a discourse. I want to sit down and talk to those involved. It's not helpful to involve the media." 

Aldus Marchionne tegenover de media. Voelt u de dubbele moraal? Overigens schijnt Ferrari €15 miljoen te beuren voor het verkopen van zijn motoren aan de klantenteams (volgend jaar Haas en Sauber):

"When I hear Ross Brawn say engines are too complicated, I ask 'What does he want for 15 million"? Liberty Media is right when they say we need to improve the show. I was not excited with what was offered at the last race, where virtually nothing happened for 50 laps. But that's not the fault of the engines."

Atta boy, Sergio, stook dat vuurtje maar op. Tegen 2021 ben je toch al 3 jaar met pensioen, eventuele scherven zijn voor je opvolger.
