Voorproefje: onboard bij een BMW M4 op het nieuwste F1-circuit
We rijden even mee met de M4 van Denis Malevanyi om een impressie te krijgen van Autodrom Igora Drive. In 2023 zal het kersverse circuit de verguisde parkeerplaats van Sochi gaan vervangen als locatie voor de Grand Prix van Rusland. Zo te zien is het een flinke verbetering.

Deze opgefokte Model S Plaid Pikes Peak-special van Unplugged Performance is een bijzonder irritante auto. En niet omdat hij in handen van ervaren coureur Randy Pobst snel genoeg is om bijna iedere traditionele auto achter zich te laten. Hard gaan is natuurlijk gewoon gaaf. Het probleem zit 'm in het geluid. Elektrische auto's zijn namelijk zo stil dat de organisatie van Pikes Peak ze verplicht een sirene te voeren om toeschouwers te waarschuwen dat er iets aan komt. Onafgebroken. De hele run. We raden je aan de video toch maar met het geluid uit te bekijken.

VIDEO: Romain Grosjean 's IndyCar vliegt in de fik
Tijdens de IndyCar-race op het stratencircuit van Detroit afgelopen weekend kreeg Romain Grosjean te maken met een kleine deja vu. Na een spin viel zijn Dallara-Honda stil, waarop de voorremmen begonnen te roken. Al snel sloegen de rookpluimen om in vlammen. Ondanks zijn vurige verleden hield Romain het hoofd koel en regelde hij van de marshals een brandblusser en rent hij zelfverzekerd terug om de wagen te blussen. Dan arriveert de safety crew echter al. Met een ietwat harde hand wordt Grosjean duidelijk gemaakt dat de veiligheidswerkers het overnemen. Gelukkig bleef de schade beperkt.
