VIDEO: Romain Grosjean 's IndyCar vliegt in de fik
Tijdens de IndyCar-race op het stratencircuit van Detroit afgelopen weekend kreeg Romain Grosjean te maken met een kleine deja vu. Na een spin viel zijn Dallara-Honda stil, waarop de voorremmen begonnen te roken. Al snel sloegen de rookpluimen om in vlammen. Ondanks zijn vurige verleden hield Romain het hoofd koel en regelde hij van de marshals een brandblusser en rent hij zelfverzekerd terug om de wagen te blussen. Dan arriveert de safety crew echter al. Met een ietwat harde hand wordt Grosjean duidelijk gemaakt dat de veiligheidswerkers het overnemen. Gelukkig bleef de schade beperkt.

VIDEO: van elfde naar eerste in twee ronden
Porsche-rijder Kevin Estre had tijdens de 24 uur van de Nürburgring de moeilijkheidsgraad duidelijk iets te laag gezet. Op het laatste moment koos zijn team voor slicks terwijl de rest van het veld het veilig speelde op regenbanden. Met kinderlijke gemak reed Estre de top tien voorbij. Uiteindelijk zou zijn Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R de race overtuigend winnen.

VIDEO: rondje Nürburgring 24H met een Dacia Logan
De 24 uur van de Nürburgring is een serieuze race voor topcoureurs in peperdure GT3 wagens. Maar er is nog steeds ruimte voor amateurs met minder gespecialiseerd materiaal. Zo bewijst Misha Charoudin met zijn tergend trage Dacia Logan. Ondanks een vermogensboost tot 165 pk met dank aan een tweeliter uit een Renault Megane komt het autootje niet eens in de buurt van de 200 kilometer per uur op de Nordschleife. Het levert wel een perfect camerapunt op om de snelheid van de topauto's van dichtbij te kunnen bekijken. En een hoop lol.
